Food in care branding

The Food in Care programme is designed to assist Children in Care (CiC) and young people and their carers to lead healthier lifestyles. FOOD IN CARE was developed as evidence shows that CiC experience worse health outcomes than their peers outside of the care system.

Engage, inform and educate young people, parents and carers about the health harms associated with drinking drinks and get them to GIVE UP LOVING POP!

While many people are aware of the negative impact that sugary drinks have on teeth, fewer are aware of the link between the over consumption of sugary drinks and weight gain and related disease such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

Good fats, bad fats

In 2006, Heart of Mersey produced the briefing paper, Good Fats: Bad Fats, which provided the most up-to-date evidence base around the consumption of fats, their profile and effects on cardiovascular health.

Nourish - Hospital Food Project

The purpose of the hospital food project was to support the six Merseyside Trusts in addressing their NHS corporate citizen responsibilities in order to meet the requirements of the Choosing Health white paper and the public health domain for the Healthcare Commission‟s Assessment of Trusts.

Food Active - A North West Healthy Weight Collaborative

The Food Active programme, which is run by Health Equalities Group and funded by the North West Directors of Public Health has been in development since 2012 and was officially launched in late 2013 as a response to the Government White Paper 'Healthy Weight, Healthy Lives: A Call to Action on Obesity'; North West Directors of Public Health identified reducing obesity as a priority for collaborative action.

Liverpool Nursery Nutrition programme

The Nursery Nutrition Programme programme is designed to equip nursery staff with the knowledge required to provide healthy, balanced and nutritious food in the nursery setting, and importantly understand the differences between nutrition for children under five years of age and healthy eating messages for older children and adults.

Improve the health and food offer for the children in your area by training nursery catering staff to understand their nutritional needs.
